Only the curiously unnecessary final street scene falls flat - or did I miss something? Bad reviews here, but I suggest that if you like a couple of the stars you should give it a chance. In addition there's Kristen Bell as Hutton's impish mistress which leads to comical confrontations when she too is detained by crook Justin Long, who manages to be both gregarious and threatening. And Meg Ryan naturally radiates, as a big fan it's great to see her in the movies again! Together they make a couple you really believe has seen a lot of ups and downs, thanks to an intelligent script brimming with a penetrating perception of marriage. Great work from the cast, Hutton spends most of the film duct-taped to a toilet but is up to the big challenge of expressing his character's turbulent emotions and regrets without physical action. Surprisingly adroit unsung indie dramedy where an embittered husband & wife (Timothy Hutton & Meg Ryan) find unexpected reconciliation while locked in a bathroom during a home invasion robbery.
